There has been a bit of a ‘buzz’ online lately about how to have wet dreams tonight. Yes, what was once an embarrassing event associated with adolescent hormonal changes is now something that some people (both men and women) seek to experience for themselves.
And to be honest… is it really so surprising? Lucid dreaming provides us with what is, essentially, an entire new world within the realm of our subconscious mind.
What Will I Learn?
If you’ve never heard of it, you should check into it. Not all dreams are lucid dreams… and contrary to what some people might believe, not all wet dreams are lucid either. But when we look at the kind of realism that dreams provoke when we are unconscious, we cannot help but to ask ourselves if our dream state is actually real… or if it is truly a figment of our imagination.
Some people have even gone as far as to say, for all psychological intents and purposes, that dreams should be treated as real life for how real they can seem to us.
Maybe the distinction doesn’t matter anymore when dreams seem… and feel… as real as real-life.
So, with these things being said… is it any wonder that any human wouldn’t want to experience ‘wet dreams’ if they could?
What Are Wet Dreams?
For those of you who missed this part of health class in school, the term ‘wet dream’ is used to describe a ‘nocturnal emission,’ also known as an ‘unconscious orgasm/ejaculation.’
It is an orgasm in your sleep.
Sometimes, wet dreams happen spontaneously and without any sort of ‘sexual dreams’ to go with them. But they can also happen along with a sexually explicit and/or erotic dream. In some cases, men may even wake up just as they are in mid-orgasm.
Most boys grow up thinking that wet dreams are awkward and embarrassing… and for good reason. They can be messy and confusing if you aren’t sure what is happening.
The truth of the matter, though, is that wet dreams happen, and that they are completely natural. They happen to men and women, and while they may be more likely to happen throughout puberty, they can even continue into adulthood.
But what causes them? And is it possible to have them more often… perhaps even on command?
Let’s get into it.
Why Have Wet Dreams On Purpose?
There could be a number of reasons for why someone may want to have a wet-dream on purpose.
Wet dreams can be seen as a healthy way to normalize hormone levels in the body… especially during adolescence and during periods of sexual abstinence. In a sense, this could be seen as the body’s natural way to clear out old sperm. They could provide a natural ‘release’ for the body without requiring the individual to have sex or masturbate, though this also begs the question…
Why not just masturbate or have sex?
For some people, this may not be such an easy question to answer. Some men may be too busy to date, seek out partners, or engage in sexual activity. Some men, for whatever reason, may not want to engage in masturbation (though masturbation is usually considered a healthy and normal activity, pretty much across the board).
Wet dreams may also be more common in people who have higher levels of sex hormones flowing through their body.
The most obvious reason that someone might want to have a wet dream on purpose is for sexual pleasure.
In other words… because it feels good and has the potential to be a lot of fun!
There is evidence to support the fact that higher testosterone levels are associated with more frequent wet dreams in men, and there is also a loose association between the frequency of wet dreams and a lack of sexual activity that culminates in orgasm.
In other words… you may be more likely to have a wet dream if you haven’t had an orgasm during sex or masturbation in a while. So, men who have not had sex in a while may seek out the experience of a wet dream because they miss feeling the connection that comes from sexual intimacy.
And then again, for some people, the desire to orchestrate their own wet dream may be purely born out of curiosity. If someone is curious about wet dreams, they may want to try to experience one for themselves.
On a similar token, if someone has had a particularly pleasurable wet dream in the past, that person may wish to try to re-create an equally pleasurable experience again.
In any case, there are a lot of people out there who believe that wet dreams are awesome… and it is not surprising that humans would be interested in experiencing something that could be pleasurable.
Of course, not all wet dreams are accompanied by erotic dream material. In fact, a lot of wet dreams do not even necessarily tie into our own real-life sexual fantasies. They might seem strange, alien, or completely removed from our own waking fantasies.
Researchers are not totally sure what triggers nocturnal emissions or the dreams that sometimes accompany them… but there are two things we can be certain of.
It is healthy and normal to have them… and it is equally healthy and normal to never have them.
It should also be mentioned that wet dreams are not a substitute for healthy human relationships. The vast majority of people are going to benefit greatly from having healthy sexual relationships with other humans, and men can also reap a lot of benefits from a healthy, positive attitude toward masturbation.
So as we move forward, be aware that wet dreams should never be categorized at an equal alternative to positive, healthy sexual relationships with other real humans.
They’re just fun… and interesting… and can feel really good.
So… Let’s Talk About How to Have Wet Dreams Tonight
How do you have wet dreams?
And by this, we mean… how can you have them on purpose?
This is a good question. But it is, to put it simply, not an altogether easy question to answer, either.
Let’s start with the science. Research actually suggests that sleeping in a prone position, stomach facing down, could cause you to have sexual or lustful dreams. It is unclear exactly why this is… though it could be because the sensation of soft bedding against the genitals stimulates it.
We also know that men with higher levels of testosterone in their body are more likely to have nocturnal emissions, and that wet dreams are a lot more common during adolescence… which is usually the period of our lives when our sex hormones are the highest.
We also know that men will tend to have wet dreams more often if they are not regularly ejaculating while they are awake.
But there are also some ‘less scientific’ ideas out there about what could cause a wet dream. The NoFap community (basically a group of guys who decide to abstain from masturbation and pornography in an attempt to have a healthier sex life) has quite a bit to say about this phenomenon, as referenced in this thread on NoFap.com.
Here are some of the things that men in this forum say have led to them having wet dreams (or that at least make wet dreams more likely).
- Fantasizing and/or watching porn before going to bed, without masturbating
- Drinking lots of water before bed and doing squats to pump more blood to the ‘nether regions’ before laying down
- Abstaining from orgasm for a prolonged period of time… usually 7 to 15 days
- Eating dark chocolate, avocados, cayenne peppers, and sleeping on your stomach (not sure about the peppers… but that is what I read)
It is also worth mentioning that lucid dreaming keeps coming up in this conversation… and for good reason. Lucid dreaming is basically a term used to describe a dream-state in which you realize that you are dreaming.
I added a video to a @YouTube playlist https://t.co/J9E9bHiX6N HOW TO HAVE LUCID DREAM SEX! (Induce Wet Dreams)

People who lucid dream are said to have the ability to control their own dreams… and this could obviously be a means to have more wet dreams if you so desired.
But we are actually not going to focus on lucid dreaming in this article, for two different reasons. For one, researchers say that it is actually a better idea to let your dreams happen naturally. And two, lucid dreaming is a huge topic that takes this entire discussion in an altogether different direction.
So for now, we will be focusing on how to achieve wet dreams without the intentional aid of lucid dreaming.
So, how do you do it?
If you really want to figure out how to have wet dreams tonight (or at least, at some point in the future), here are some instructions that may help you to get there.
How to Achieve a Wet Dream on-Purpose
To start off, you should know that you are never really guaranteed success if your goal is to have a wet-dream on purpose.
But… from our research, we can at least conclude that following these steps will make you as likely as possible to experience one.
Also, keep in mind that timing may be tricky. It might take a little while for it to happen. But, if you stick with it and don’t give up, odds are good that, eventually, you will end up having one.
There is also something to be said for practicing. If you keep working on it and find the perfect formula, you may be able to gain a greater amount of control over how often you have wet dreams.
Also, keep in mind that some of these steps are not altogether ‘easy,’ and that they may not even be ‘good’ for everyone. We believe that this is the best way to induce a purposeful wet-dream if you so desire… but also must give a small disclaimer, saying that using these steps to achieve a wet dream may not be the best, healthiest course of action for everyone.
If in doubt, consult your doctor.
Alright, now let’s get to it.
Step 1: Stop having orgasms. This means during sex and during masturbation. As far as we can tell, you are more likely to have a wet dream the longer you abstain from having orgasms.
Step 2: Indulge in sexual fantasies right before you go to sleep. You could even read an erotic novel, look at erotic photos, or watch some sexy videos. The point here is to get your mind revved-up for sex, but then to go to bed without having the release of orgasm.
Step 3: Take part in activities that will raise testosterone levels. This includes eating a healthier diet, cutting back on sugar, and maybe even lifting weights and/or exercising more at the gym. You might even want to take some vitamins to help you boost your T levels. The higher your testosterone levels are, the more likely you will be to have a wet dream.
Step 4: Wear bottoms to bed that are comfortable, or don’t wear anything. It seems that a big part of having a wet dream is the physical stimulation… so you want your ‘equipment’ to be as comfortable as possible to increase your odds for success.
Step 5: Sleep on your stomach. This seems to be a pretty important step for achieving a wet dream. The few scientific studies we have to pull from indicate that this is a big part of making ‘nocturnal emissions’ a thing.
Step 6: Make sure that your bedding, and bed, are as comfortable as possible. It seems that this makes a big difference. Soft covers and/or a soft mattress cover may increase your odds of success in this endeavor.
Step 7: You may be more likely to have a wet dream on mornings when you can sleep-in. It seems that being forced to get up early may reduce the odds of a wet dream. But, this makes sense. The more REM sleep you get, the more likely you are to succeed.
Step 8: Experiment with drinking a lot of water before bed. Some men report that a full bladder makes them much more likely to experience a nocturnal emission. So, you can experiment with this as well.
Step 9: Continue until you are successful. This is the hard part. Odds are pretty minimal that you will experience a wet dream after just one or two days of this routine. As far as we can tell, men who stop masturbating to orgasm (or having sex) tend to experience their first wet dream in 7 to 15 days. But… this is not at all an indication of what your experience will be.
Keep in mind that every man is different, and that your experience may be different because of your body, your psychology, your genetic makeup, and because of how you live your life.
Step 10: If these steps do not bring success, consider delving into lucid dreaming. As it turns out, the dark corners of the internet seem to indicate that lucid dreaming is almost a guaranteed method of achieving erotic and/or wet dreams whenever you want.
But be careful! Lucid dreaming is a fringe activity and there is not a lot that is known about it. If in doubt, consult your psychologist to see if this is a healthy activity for you to engage in!
The Hardest Part of Trying to Trigger Your Own Wet Dreams
Some men will have an easier time of this than others. Some men might be able to have wet dreams even without changing their routine… while other men may struggle to have one, even if they are doing everything they can to make it work.
Our body is difficult to control while it is unconscious… so there is no exact science for how to make this work.
It seems that abstinence from orgasm is one of the biggest steps to success with wet dreams… but that is not always easy either. Men are often hard-wired to desire sexual release within a certain time-frame, and while abstaining from sex may not be as difficult… abstaining from orgasm through masturbation is a usually a very difficult thing to do!
You may face frustration, sadness, depression, and a range of other negative effects as a result of halting your orgasms. If you are used to having them, and suddenly stop… your brain may start to play some tricks on you.
But… with that being said… there are also a lot of benefits to temporarily ‘taking a break’ from orgasm, as evidenced by this article, written by a guy who took three weeks off from sex and masturbation as an experiment.
For some people, the experience of taking a break of orgasm revitalizes the mind and body.
Orgasm does come with a huge range of benefits… but on a temporary basis, abstaining from it also presents some upsides.
In Conclusion
If you want to learn how to have wet dreams tonight, you may have to experiment a little bit with your body and your routine. But odds are on your side if you’re committed to achieving this goal for yourself.
With a little self-control and experimentation, you may just learn the secret to triggering your own pleasurable, exciting wet-dreams for yourself.
